Why are we serving here?

ForColumbia’s mission — to bring Christians together to love and serve our neighbors — puts us in touch with those in Columbia who may feel more marginalized or unseen.

We are returning for one more year to serve in a neighborhood near Open Door Church, in an attempt to connect with neighbors living on the outskirts of Columbia, many of whom rent their homes. When we give our time for the benefit of others, we send the message that they are valuable.

What can I expect?

ForColumbia volunteers will be serving outside in this neighborhood:

• helping residents with yardwork;
• moving larger trash items to the dumpster that we will provide, and;
• other outside projects as identified.

What should I bring?

• Come prepared to work outside; if it’s sunny, we encourage you to bring sunscreen and/or a hat.
• We encourage all volunteers to wear closed-toed shoes.
• If you have a leaf blower, a weed eater and/or pruning shears, we’d love for you to bring them.
• Be sure to wear your #ForColumbia T-shirt!

Can I serve here with my children?

Yes, this is a family-friendly site!
