Why are we serving here?

The lack of access to affordable housing is at an all-time high, both nationally and locally. But one Columbia non-profit has been recently established with the singular goal of making an impact in this arena. Arise Dwellings purchases older homes, renovates them using an affordable, benevolent model, and makes first-time home ownership possible for many families.

This year, Arise Dwellings and ForColumbia are partnering in a few different ways, including this home at 1011 Rangeline. When we all use our gifts and abilities to benefit our neighbors, God is glorified and our city flourishes.

This is why we believe your time will be well spent serving at this home, which will one day be in the hands of a family that could not have afforded homeownership otherwise.

What can I expect?

Volunteers will be working outside and indoors at this site:

  • Landscaping around the front of this property;
  • Helping install a privacy fence;
  • Painting inside, and;
  • Other projects as identified.

What should I bring?

  • Come prepared to work outside; if it’s sunny, we encourage you to bring sunscreen and/or a hat.
  • We encourage all volunteers to wear closed-toed shoes.
  • Be sure to wear your #ForColumbia T-shirt!

Can I serve here with my children?

Yes, this is a great location to serve outside as a family with elementary-aged kids, but we ask that children not be allowed to paint inside.
