Why are we serving here?

ForColumbia loves and serves our neighbors by supporting local non-profits that impact lives every day. KVC Missouri (formerly Great Circle) provides a wide range of behavioral health services for children and families across mid-Missouri, working to restore hope in difficult circumstances.

KVC’s Transitional Living Program (TLP) is a vital initiative that helps youth transition from alternative care to self-sufficiency by providing a safe and structured environment. The program focuses on equipping youth with essential life skills, fostering positive relationships, and supporting their growth in areas like education, employment, and independent living.

Serving at the TLP’s homes where these children live sends the message that these kids matter, that they are valuable, and supports what this organization is also trying to do in their lives.  This is why we believe your day will be well-spent serving at this site.

What can I expect?

Volunteers will be working outside and indoors:

  • Weeding and planting in beds in front of both houses;

  • Scraping and painting/staining back deck on the girls’ home;

  • Deep cleaning common spaces in both homes;

  • Building shelves in storage unit, organizing items, and;

  • Other projects as identified.

What should I bring?

  • We encourage all volunteers to wear closed-toed shoes.
  • Be prepared for a sunny day by bringing sunscreen and/or a hat, as well as work gloves.
  • Be sure to wear your #ForColumbia T-shirt!

Can I serve here with my children?

Yes, this is a great site for families with older elementary children to serve together.
