Why are we serving here?

One of the ways ForColumbia strives to love and serve our city is by giving our time and energy to beautify community areas open to everyone, such as Stephens Lake Park. This year, we are serving in city parks located throughout Columbia, all of which could use a little additional help. When we give our time to projects like this, we are actively seeking the good of our city in a tangible way.

In addition to working at Reichmann, we.ll also spend time decorating and planting flower pots to deliver to the homeowners we are serving on April 25. This is a simple but meaningful way to show our neighbors that they are seen, valued, and deeply loved by the church.

What can I expect?

ForColumbia volunteers will be working outdoors in this park to:

  • Spread mulch around playground equipment at the Reichmann playground;
  • Wipe down the equipment, pick up trash, etc., and;
  • Decorate and plant pots to be delivered that day.

What should I bring?

Columbia Parks and Recreation will provide all required supplies:

  • Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own work/garden gloves to help spread mulch. If willing, volunteers may also bring rakes and scoop shovels to spread mulch.
  • We encourage all volunteers to wear closed-toed shoes.
  • Be prepared for a sunny day by bringing sunscreen and/or a hat.
  • Be sure to wear your ForColumbia T-shirt!

Can I serve here with my children?

Yes, this is a great family-friendly site where children can easily serve alongside their parents.
