Why are we serving here?
One of the ways ForColumbia strives to love and serve our neighbors is by partnering with our city to put us in touch with those who may feel unseen or uncared for in Columbia. This year, we are once again serving significantly in Columbia Housing Authority-managed housing by sending hundreds of volunteers to public housing areas, including Stuart Parker Apartments. We are cleaning up neighborhoods and organizing landscaping and other beautification projects, providing opportunities for individuals to connect and work together. When we give our time for the benefit of others, we send the message that they are valuable.
What can I expect?
Volunteers at this site will be working outside:
- Working in flower beds and gardens for specific tenants;
- Planting flower pots outside the management office;
- Providing a general clean-up of trash and leaves for the area, and;
- Other projects as identified.
