Why are we serving here?
One of the ways ForColumbia strives to love and serve our neighbors is by supporting non-profit organizations that actively work every day in the lives of people in Columbia. Woodhaven is an organization that advocates for people with disabilities to enhance their lives, provide quality opportunities for choice, and create a safe community where individuals with disabilities can connect.
At Woodhaven’s Day Center, individuals with disabilities have opportunities to learn and grow, so we’ve decided to return to this location to continue helping them expand the experiences they can offer others. This is why we believe your day will be well spent serving Woodhaven.
What can I expect?
Volunteers will be working inside and outdoors:
- building a greenhouse;
- repairing swings and mulching the playground under the swings;
- prepping and staining raised bed gardens and the mailbox;
- trimming trees on the property and replanting flower boxes;
- deep cleaning the inside of the building, including the windows, and;
- other projects as identified.

What should I bring?
- ForColumbia and Woodhaven will work together to provide supplies for outdoor work.
- Volunteers are encouraged to bring gardening or work gloves.
- If sunny, bring sunscreen and/or a hat.
- We encourage all volunteers to wear closed-toed shoes.
- Be sure to wear your #ForColumbia T-shirt!
Can I serve here with my children?
Yes, this is a great opportunity for elementary-aged children to serve alongside their parents.
