How are we handling Covid-19 concerns?

Enthusiasm for serving our city is growing!

The ForColumbia 2021 Executive Team is so very encouraged to see it. However, we also know that Covid-19 is still a reality. As we have planned this year’s serving event, we are taking the safety and comfort of our volunteers very seriously.

Therefore, we have worked hard to come up with a plan we believe will allow everyone to serve in ways they are comfortable.

We have developed a four-color scale that we have applied to each site, to communicate how easy and likely social distancing will be. You can learn more about our Covid Awareness and Sensitivity Levels by watching the two-minute video below.

In addition, when you sign up to serve, you will have the opportunity to let us know which designation best reflects your level of comfort for serving alongside others. Once signed up, we will assign you to a serving site that matches your comfort level.

We will not be asking for information on our volunteers’ vaccination records, travel history, previous exposure to people who later tested positive, etc. Instead, we ask every volunteer to respect and honor the Covid-19 sensitivities of other volunteers and every other member of the Columbia community (1 Corinthians 10:23-24).

As we love and serve our neighbors this year, let’s remember that we’re serving alongside our neighbors as well. Respecting each other’s differing levels of comfort is simply one more way we love others.

FAQs

Q. Do I have to wear a mask when I serve?

A. We will be following all health department guidelines currently in effect as of June 5th, 2021. If the city is still under a mask mandate, we will ask volunteers to show up to serve with a mask and to use it as is required by the City of Columbia.

Q. What if I want to serve but only with my family?

A. We have serving sites that make this possible! When you sign up, be sure to communicate your Covid-19 sensitivity level as GREEN, and feel free to email us at [email protected] with any additional information you’d like to share.
