Unless the Lord Watches Over the City

Updated Feb. 14, 2023

Psalm 127:1 (ESV) A Song of Ascents. Of Solomon.
Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.

The ForColumbia team is currently seeking to recruit committed, mature “prayer warriors” (intercessors) to regularly bring our city, its leaders, and its people before the Lord in prayer, especially (but not only) during the lead-up to the ForColumbia project which takes place Saturday, April 29th.

The Scriptures remind believers that we can do absolutely nothing of eternal value apart from God’s blessing and enabling. The ForColumbia team is committed to seeking the mind and will of Jesus, and to praying for softening of hearts and receptive minds, as we break out the wheelbarrows, paint brushes, circular saws, and cleaning supplies.

If you are willing to pray regularly throughout the duration of the ForColumbia project (and after!) please visit the Prayer page and fill out a brief online form. Invite your friends to join you in this radical effort. A member of the ForColumbia team will follow up with you soon.

James 4:13-16 (ESV)
Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit” – yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.” As it is, you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil.

Psalm 20:7 (ESV)
Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.
