Why are we serving here?

One rewarding way ForColumbia serves its city is by bringing Christians together to serve other churches that are actively working every day to share the gospel and bring hope into the lives of people in Columbia.

Jesus House has partnered with ForColumbia for several years, serving our city alongside many others. They recently acquired their own building, and we want to now come alongside them as they turn this building into a place of worship. We believe that when our churches flourish, our city flourishes. We want to offer to make light work with many hands for this faithful congregation.

What can I expect?

ForColumbia 2024 Volunteer T-Shirts

Volunteers at this site will be working inside and outdoors:

  • painting the majority of the interior of this building;
  • building shelving as well as work spaces in the small kitchen area;
  • demo’ing a wall and expanding a storage space, which will also be equipped with additional shelving;
  • tearing out an old fence and clearing the fence line, then installing a smaller privacy fence, and;
  • other projects as identified.

What should I bring?

  • Come prepared to work outside, and/or to paint inside. If it’s sunny, we encourage you to consider bringing sunscreen and/or a hat as well as work gloves.
  • We encourage all volunteers to wear close-toed shoes.
  • Be sure to wear your #ForColumbia T-shirt!

Can I serve here with my children?

Due to the construction and painting at this site, we do not recommend serving here with children.
