Why are we serving here?
ForColumbia’s mission – to bring Christians together to love and serve our neighbors – puts us in touch with those in Columbia who may feel more marginalized; elderly individuals, single parents, those with disabilities or who are struggling with financial instability. This year, we are again serving at 313 Hogan Drive, a home that is being used as a local food pantry, with future plans to expand its use into a community resource center. When we give our time for the benefit of others, we send the message that they are valuable.
What can I expect?
ForColumbia volunteers will be working in the yard at this home, doing some yard and landscaping work, spreading gravel for a neighbor’s driveway, and repairing and painting a shed.
What should I bring?
- We encourage volunteers to bring any small gardening tools they have, including garden gloves;
- Come prepared to work outside; if sunny, we encourage you to consider bringing sunscreen and/or a hat.
- We encourage all volunteers to wear close-toed shoes.
- Be sure to wear your #ForColumbia2022 T-shirt!
Can I serve here with my children?
Yes, this is a kid-friendly serving project.
