Why are we serving here?
ForColumbia’s mission – to bring Christians together to love and serve our neighbors – puts us in touch with those in Columbia who may feel more marginalized; elderly individuals, single parents, those with disabilities, or who are struggling with financial instability. This year, we are again serving at 313 Hogan Drive, a home that is being used as a local food pantry and support center with active programs. When we give our time for the benefit of others, we send the message that they are valuable.
What can I expect?
ForColumbia volunteers will be serving both outside and indoors:
- Landscaping, planting and other yard work;
- Cleaning windows;
- Deep cleaning the food pantry, and;
- Other projects as identified.
What should I bring?
- Come prepared to work outside; if sunny, we encourage you to consider bringing garden gloves, sunscreen, and/or a hat.
- We encourage all volunteers to wear closed-toed shoes.
- Be sure to wear your #ForColumbia2023 T-shirt!
Can I serve here with my children?
Yes, this is a kid-friendly serving project.
