Why are we serving here?

One of the ways ForColumbia strives to love and serve our neighbors is by serving those non-profit organizations that are actively working every day to enrich the lives of people in Columbia.

Access Arts is a non-profit that since 1971 has been working to make artistic expression available to people of diverse identities and backgrounds, with the belief that art is the universal language that has the power to unite, heal, and transform. Access Arts opens its doors to all interested in finding artistic means of expression, offering classes for adults and camps for children. This is ForColumbia’s first year at this non-profit, and we’re excited to serve here.

What can I expect?

ForColumbia 2024 Volunteer T-ShirtsForColumbia volunteers will be working outside:

  • landscaping and yard clean-up, including removing and replanting a few trees;
  • clearing the fence row in multiple locations;
  • splitting logs of downed trees on the property;
  • staining a large deck and making minor repairs;
  • scraping and repainting a garden shed, and potentially reorganizing the stored items, and;
  • other projects as identified.

What should I bring?

  • Volunteers should bring work/garden gloves.
  • Bring the following garden tools if you have them: pruners, loppers, trimmers of any kind. Especially need chainsaws at this site!
  • Come prepared to work outside. We encourage you to bring sunscreen and/or a hat if it’s sunny.
  • We encourage all volunteers to wear closed-toed shoes.
  • Be sure to wear your #ForColumbia T-shirt!
